Connect Her Bury

Making impact in Bury! We are excited to announce the launch of our Digital Skills training programme in Bury, Connect Her, marking an important expansion of our work across Greater Manchester.

Delivered in partnership with Bury Council, this new programme will enable us to make a substantial, long-term impact for women in Bury who are facing disadvantage and barriers to education or employment.

At Funding Futures, our mission is to support women experiencing disadvantage through skills development and employment pathways. Expanding into Bury allows us to extend that mission into a new community and respond to local need with a practical, people-led solution.

This partnership with Bury Council will enable us to support women who may be experiencing challenges such as unemployment, abuse, low confidence, leaving care or the criminal justice system or limited access to training; helping them move forward with renewed skills and confidence.

Our first training cohort in Bury will commence in February and will be hosted at Bury Adult Learning Centre. It will be delivered over a six-week period, with sessions taking place one day per week. This flexible structure ensures the programme is accessible and supportive for women balancing other commitments.

Participants will receive comprehensive digital skills training, designed to build confidence and competence in essential digital literacy. This includes practical skills that support everyday life, employability and progression into further training or work.

Alongside digital skills, the programme takes a whole-person approach. As part of the course, participants will take part in a mental health and wellbeing workshop facilitated by Eilir Jones from A Better Way Counselling Service. This workshop is designed to build awareness around mental health and wellbeing and provide practical solutions for managing stress and resilience.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a CPD accreditation in Managing Mental Health & Building Resilience, be given a free laptop to keep, removing digital access barriers and be matched with a dedicated mentor who will support them into onward employment or further education.

“We are incredibly grateful to Bury Council for their remarkable support and for enabling us to deliver this transformative programme in Bury. We are confident that this initiative will make a meaningful difference to women experiencing disadvantage in the area and help pave the way to a brighter future” – Billy Darroch, Co-Founder at Funding Futures
